In this sixty-four crayon box world, be your own beautiful

True confession: earlier I let it slip that I watch Steve Young’s 4-minute video about nontransactional love every time I need a boost.

Another true confession: here’s a one-minute video that I also watch over and over, from beloved Allison Dayton, cofounder of Lift+Love. Find the video on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4TDk8QORZU/?igsh=MWphc2tvZjNzbGIyYg%3D%3D

Here’s the script:

One day your kid might come home and say to you, “Hey, Mom, I’ve got something to tell you.”

“Sure, bud, what's going on?”

“Well, I'm robin’s egg blue.”

You're looking at your box of eight crayons saying “I don't know what that means. Are you blue?

“Nope, I’m robin’s egg blue.”

“So you’re blue.”

“Nope. Different. I’m blue with a little white and some yellow.”

You look at your crayon box at you don’t even have white. You’re not talking the same language.

We're never going to go back. Nobody wants a box of eight crayons anymore because it doesn't really color as well, even for old people. This is what we're going off of now: the 64 box.

Be your own beautiful. This 64-crayon-world needs just your shade.
